My Ode to Jim Halpert {YOTNG}

Sep 8th

I’ll admit, I used to have a thing for bad boys. I always found a brooding, unpredictable guy very appealing. It started with Shane West (remember him?) and moved from there. Then things began to change. Now good-natured, sweet, sensitive guys are much more my cup of tea. Jim Halpert embodies this type of man. I know that Jim Halpert is a fictional character, but I think he represents everything that is good in the world. Jim’s shaggy mop of hair and playful eyes are so appealing. I love the way he’s a little gangly. You know he’s not cramming raw eggs down his throat as he spends three hours at the gym.  He’s low maintenance and doesn’t take life too seriously.

Jim is quick on his feet, and that’s sexy. He always knows how to respond to every ridiculous situation he encounters at the office.  He also knows just how to make Dwight crazy. Office supplies in jello, anyone? Jim is the type of guy who can create fun in any situation. If you got stuck in the Dunder Mifflin elevator with Jim, he would find a way to make sure you didn’t feel claustrophobic. Jim also has the best range of facial expressions that I’ve ever seen. He would make Tyra Banks proud. He smiles with his eyes. He also expresses angst, anger, boredom, love, irony, etc. Jim’s eye and mouth movements say it all.

Then, of course, we have the way in which Jim interacts with Pam. Could there be a cuter courtship? The answer is no. Jim is in love and won’t take no for answer, and it’s adorable. When he buys her the teapot she’s always wanted and fills it with cute little inside jokes? That shows romance AND creativity. Go, Jim!  Jim believes in love and romance and chivalry. He’s not a “love ‘em and leave ‘em” type. He knows how to treat his lady. He uses creativity and emotion to show he cares.

This is just a brief description of why I love James Halpert. Now I’m feeling inspired to watch some reruns of The Office so I can admire his lovely smile and witty remarks. Swoon.
