I love this movie. It is not your traditional “look at these quirky people fall in love” rom-com. It is so much more.
They have already fallen in love and we are left watching them at the crossroads of “what the hell do we do now?” They are pregnant, looking at moving and Burt (the ridiculously adorable John Krasinski) is looking for a new job.
Not your usual Hollywood love story.
Here are the deets for Away We Go:
Buoyed by the news that they are expecting their first baby, Burt (John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) embark on a journey to locate the perfect place on the planet to raise their child. But their quest inevitably yields many unexpected surprises.
Three reasons Away We Go won’t “F” you up:
1. They are each others rock and best friend. At different times in the movie we see them take different roles where one will support and listen and then turn it around. I love that. Both play roles where they can be vulnerable, instead of one person doing it all the time.
2. As they travel around they meet other couples who all have their own real sh*t. All of them with their own type of dysfunction.
3. This movie feels like a role model. I think everyone should have a relationship role model and even though this one is made up by Hollywood, I feel that it is still something people can strive for. Having that flawed best friend who is your partner along the way. That is real to me.
